Women's Economic Empowerment

Empowering women through entrepreneurship and skills development

The Challenge

Women across East Africa face systemic barriers to economic participation including limited access to finance, markets, skills training, and legal protections. Gender inequality constrains not only individual potential but entire economies.

⚠️
Gender Gap

Women make up over 70% of the agricultural workforce in East Africa yet control less than 20% of agricultural land and have limited access to credit and markets.

Core barriers to women's economic empowerment:

• Limited access to finance and formal banking services

• Unequal land tenure and property rights

• Insufficient skills training and business development support

• Social and cultural norms restricting women's economic mobility

Our Solution

Our women's economic empowerment program took an integrated approach addressing financial, skills, and structural barriers simultaneously.

Financial Inclusion

We established village savings and loan associations (VSLAs), facilitated access to formal financial services, and provided financial literacy training to thousands of women across target communities.

Skills and Enterprise Development

We delivered business skills training, mentorship, and market linkage support to help women start and grow sustainable enterprises across agriculture, trade, and services.

💡
Holistic Approach

Economic empowerment programs work best when they address financial access, skills development, and structural barriers together. Addressing one dimension in isolation rarely produces lasting change.

The Results

The program achieved transformative results for participating women and their communities.
